He has worked in the technology industry for six years, the last four in positions with a healthcare focus. Dan has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Computer Science from Princeton University.

President-Elect, Andy Galbus, MBA, FHIMSS Unit Manager-IT. Mr. Galbus has been employed by Mayo Clinic since 1996 with eight previous years of information technology experience. He currently manages an IT Quality Office supporting administrative business systems with work focused on compliance and quality. For nine years prior to his current position he assisted implementing and supporting electronic medical record systems throughout the hospitals in Rochester, MN. He completed his MBA degree in 2001 with a thesis on wireless bedside computing. His undergraduate degree is in Computer Science and Business Administration from St. Mary's University of Minnesota.

Past President, Pam Graves, RN, CNP, FHIMSS Pam has been in the healthcare business for over 20 years with much of her time spent in the pediatric clinical arena. She has a BSN in Nursing and graduated from the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.. She is certified as a neonatal nurse practitioner. She attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota, school of nursing. She has been a past research chair of the local American Association of Critical Care Nurses chapter. Pam is currently employed as a patient safety analyst at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Pam is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and MINING. She has been a member of the Minnesota HIMSS chapter for nine years and is a HIMSS Fellow.

Secretary, Jennifer Boehne Jennifer recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She is currently doing a pharmacy residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. In addition, she is in the process of completing a Masters in Health Informatics at the University of Minnesota. She is very involved in Pharmacy Informatics/IT at both the State and National level. She would like to get more students interested in pursuing careers in the field of informatics and doing interdisciplinary research. Her areas of interest include: clinical decision support, CPOE, medication reconciliation, e-prescribing, and disease management.

Communications Director, Sue Green, CPHIMS, MMSDD Sue is currently a consultant with Healthia Consulting, where she works with local health care companies, providing project management, business analysis, software development, and system implementation planning. Sue has worked in information technology for the last 25+ years and most recently the past 6 years in health care. Sue has a B.A. in Business and Economics from Augsburg College as well as a Mini-Masters in Software Development and Design (MMSDD) from the University of St. Thomas. She holds a CPHIMS (Certified Professional in Health Care Information Systems) certification.

Programs Director, Pete Palmer Pete Palmer is a Security and Cryptography Architect for Wells Fargo & Company. Pete currently serves as Chair of the HIMSS RHIO Federation Work Group, an advisory group to the HIMSS RHIO/NHII Task Force. Pete has been the co-Chair of National Electronic Commerce Coordinating Council's Identity Management Work Group for the past two years, and is an active member of the Electronic Authentication Partnership. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Pete served as Principal Security Architect for Guidant Corporation's Advanced Patient Management organization, and was CTO and VP of Architecture for VisionShare, Inc., a St. Paul, Minnesota health care security software company. Pete is involved in IT security and health care standards bodies, published author of technical material, and frequent speaker on IT security, open source software, and identity management.

Programs-Elect Director, Ken Stensvold Ken has been employed by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester since 1996. At Mayo, Ken is the unit manager for the Charting, Monitoring and Outpatient Orders unit. His unit is responsible for all ordering of tests and medications for the outpatient environment as well as the charting and monitoring in the inpatient environment. Prior to joining Mayo he completed a career in the Air Force where he worked in the electronics field. Ken's under graduate degree is in computer science from Winona State University. He attained an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University in 2001.

Membership Director, Katie O'Brien Katie O’Brien is a Senior Marketing Specialist with Healthia Consulting, the provider consulting arm of Ingenix. Since joining Healthia in November 2006, Katie has supported numerous marketing, business development and recruiting activities. In the Marketing Department, she assisted with initiatives including event planning, public relations, and community relations. Katie received her B.S in Marketing with a Minor in Business Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Besides HIMSS, Katie is also a member of the American Marketing Association.

Advocacy Liaison, Susan Heichert, BSN, FHIMSS Susan has been a member of the Minnesota HIMSS chapter for six years and is HIMSS Fellow. She has been employed in Healthcare Information Systems for over twenty years. She has served on the Minnesota HIMSS board for many years in the capacities of At-Large Member, Program Chair, Co-Chair of the Sponsorship and Scholarship Committees, and President. She has presented at the National HIMSS convention on the topic of benefit realization for clinical systems and implementation. Susan is employed as the VP for Health Information and Systems at Allina Hospitals and Clinics. Her past experience includes working at Children's Hospital and United Hospital in Clinical Systems. She has also worked for a clinical system's vendor in Iowa, as well as being employed as the Director for Clinical Informatics at St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI. Susan has a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and an M.A. from the University of Minnesota.

Regional Coordinators (Twin Cities), Amy Lorentz and Mark Rubin Amy Lorentz is currently a consultant with Healthia Consulting, where she works with local health care organizations, providing project management, business analysis, software development and system implementation planning. Amy has worked in the healthcare field for 16+ years and has been focused on HealthCare IT and Electronic Medical Records for the last 7 years.
Mark Rubin is the Director of Healthcare Sales at eDocument Resources, an Enterprise Content Management Reseller/Integrator. His primary focus is helping both providers and payers realize the benefits of this technology throughout their organizations while leveraging their current infrastructure. Previously, he was a regional sales manager for a medical imaging company, MMS, where he sold a burgeoning radiology imaging service. His prior experiences also include customer service management and field service at a medical software company, computer network integration and consulting, and participation in clinical study review. Mark received his undergraduate degree from New York University and attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine.

Outreach Chair, Lance Guth Lance Guth is currently the Director of Clinical Informatics & Information Technology at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, Minnesota. Along with overseeing the organization’s Information Technology, Lance’s primary responsibility is advancing the healthcare information systems for the hospital and its associated clinics through the implementation of an interoperable Electronic Health Record. Lance has been involved with Healthcare Technology for 9 years, having previously worked for LSS Data Systems, the Meditech partnered practice management software vendor. A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls IA, Lance’s goal, in this position, is to increase the awareness of outreach or rural areas for the need to adopt and use health information technology in order to improve health care quality, increase patient safety and reduce health care costs. Professional Development, Ray Gensinger, Jr., M.D., CPHIMS, FHIMSS Ray is the system Chief Medical Information Officer for Fairview Health Services. He is also a general internist in the Department of Medicine at Fairview Ridges Clinic. He holds appointments as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Gensinger works closely with the CIO and he focuses on clinical systems design, support and development of all information systems at Fairview. Dr. Gensinger obtained at Bachelors degree in biology from Illinois Wesleyan University, Later he attended Southern Illinois University for his medical school, internship, and residency. After residency, Dr. Gensinger served as Chief of Residents in Internal Medicine, followed by two years on the clinical faculty. In 1994 part of his time was spent at Baylor College of Medicine pursuing post-doctoral studies in Medical Informatics. |

Amy Watters, MA, RHIA, is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Health Information Management Graduate Program at the College of St. Scholastica. She has more than 10 years of HIM experience. Her career has included a variety of positions, including release of information experience, HIM and admitting management experience in acute care settings, product management experience at a software and consulting firm, and HIPAA security experience at a multi-specialty physician group. Amy received her graduate and undergraduate degree in HIM from the College of St. Scholastica. She has served on the board of the Minnesota Health Information Management Association and is currently serving as president of the Northeastern Minnesota Health Information Management Association.

Directors at Large, Margaret Senn, Kristin Hansen, Diane Walizer and Greg Staudenmaier Since 2003 Margaret Senn, MS, RN has been an Informatics Nurse Specialist at Mayo Rochester. Prior to this she was the RN Coordinator - Computer Projects involved with the implementation of the Automated Medication Dispensing Devices. Ms. Senn has worked with the development and implementation of clinical systems in critical care, general care, OB, and outpatient clinic settings. She has held a leadership position in the Kappa Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and is also a member of HIMSS and MINING.
