Chapter Updates

  • National Conference Review
    • Major concerns exist regarding unified dues and student members
      • No plan for unified dues has been articulated to the local chapters
        • Ray will send an email to other chapter presidents asking if they have seen “the plan”
        • Ray will ask the new HIMSS CEO to attend an upcoming board meeting to address concerns
        • May need to start charging a nominal fee for chapter programs to cover the cost of food
      • HIMSS is promoting a student initiative, but does not reimburse for student members
  • Nominations Update – Bobbie
    • Nominations committee will send Bobbie a list of names of potential board members by Friday, February 16, 2001
    • Next milestone is March 2nd with the closure of Board Nominations
  • Real-time Video Conferencing of Chapter Program - ALL
    • National is investigating what, if any, assistance / resources they can provide chapters – Mike will follow up with Karen at National
    • Duluth and Rochester are two geographic areas to initially concentrate our efforts
      • A liaison for each area will be needed to help with scheduling and logistics
      • Dana has a contact in Duluth and Mike has a contact in Rochester
    • Ideal rollout will be May’s Annual Meeting
  • National’s Future Chapter Leaders Workshop
    • Will be held on June 21 and 22 in Chicago
    • President Elect should attend this meeting
    • President should attend the National Conference’s Leadership Workshop
  • Innovations award
    • Need to start thinking about what we can present to National for our innovative initiative
    • One possibility would be the video conferencing if we are successful

Program Committee - Susan

  • May Program
    • Susan will look for a site to host the May meeting
    • Betsy Hersher will be the keynote speaker
    • If possible we will video conference between Minneapolis and Duluth and/or Rochester
  • September Program
    • Woodwinds is the desired hosting facility
    • Susan / Ray have contacts at Woodwinds
  • ITEC Program
    • MHIMA is ready to meet and start planning for December’s program

Publishing Committee – ALL

  • Newsletter needs to be sent out
  • Please send your write-ups to Mike
  • Do to the vacancy of the Publishing Committee Chair members interested in the position should be seated immediately (do not wait until elections)
